South Beach, Florida is one of the most popular destinations of people who are just looking to have a good time. It is host to some of the hottest nightclubs, the most beautiful people, the trendiest restaurants, and the swankiest hotels the world over. When you come to South Beach, you will have plenty of opportunity to do everything else, but you will only be guest at one hotel, which is why it is so important to choose the right hotel to give the maximum amount of pleasure in your precious time in paradise.
One way you cannot go wrong is by selecting The Tides. Adorned in white, this palace has recently been renovated from 115 rooms to 45 spacious suites with over-sized baths, king size beds, and huge closets. The Tides is also wrought with hospitality inspired touches such as spyglasses in every suite for gazing out huge windows at the ocean. And yes, every room at The Tides has big windows facing the ocean. There is definite creative genius behind the amenities here, such as an Olympic-size mezzanine pool where women are welcome to bathe topless. The Tides also offers such unique services as baby-sitting, dry cleaning, and travel services.
A little less understated and a little more rock-n-roll, the Whitelaw Hotel has taken the color white and turned it into a fetish, offering a white TV, white stereo, white refrigerator, white in-room safe, white bathrobes, white mini-bar, and so on. However, the Whitelaw Hotel's sense of humor extends far beyond the color scheme. There is 60's style shag carpet in every room, as well as crisp Belgian linens, directly referenced in their slogan, "clean sheets, hot water, and stiff drinks." The "stiff drinks" are free at the lounge between 7 pm and 8 pm every evening, and this is probably one of the only places in South Beach where you can count on a free drink every day. It is no surprise that the Whitelaw Hotel's guests are offered VIP treatment (free cover charge) at the hottest nightspots in town.
The big brother of the Whitelaw Hotel is the equally elegant Mercury Resort. This all suites resort boasts a list of improvements over your standard resort hotel room such as oversized marble baths with two sinks and a whirlpool spa, a stocked mini-bar and self catering kitchen, and a music center with CD player as well as a CD library. The furnishings are modern Italian, and the data ports are T-1. Don't be fooled by the downplayed looks of the Mercury, it is above par in every way. In south Beach, there is never enough time to catch all the shows, hit all the clubs, eat at all the restaurants, or see all the people, but when you are staying in the perfect hotel, you'll have no trouble extending your stay to make it all happen.
